COMFORT
If you have to wear a shield non-stop for 10 or 12 hour shift then comfort really, really matters. The materials matter, the design matters and anything, anything a manufacturer can do to make face shields more comfortable is truly appreciated by hard working medical professionals.
The SEA SHIELD™ Face Shield is a breakthrough in comfort, these aren’t just words, keep reading:
1. The SEA SHIELD™ uses a combination of TWO foams.
A. A 1” high premium quality foam that will not break down, keeps its shape and form, will not roll and absorbs perspiration.
B. Cooling, premium 1⁄2” high Cool Gel Memory Foam™ infused with temperature regulating gel to help regulate your temperature.
This combination of these two different types of foam delivers an unparalleled level of comfort.
2. SEASOFT is the only company that burns, at 800° F., 3 slots in the foam, to allow the foam to compress to its natural density when you put it on and bend it to fit. If you bend foam pieces, without some kind of slot or other kind of relief, the foam is compressed in the middle and gets hard. This hard, compressed foam creates pressure points in the middle and outside of the “cushioning” foam. They can lead to feelings of stress, tension, headaches, migraines and other negative symptoms. The SEA SHIELD™ protects you from all of this because it works in the opposite way, the entire foam area continues to be as soft as a pillow.
3. Another important comfort innovation is the diagonal cutting of the foam at the ends. In our testing we discovered that most face shields squeezed the temples because this is where the elastic tension starts so the thick foam at the corner of other face shields is pushed into the wearer’s head causing yet again, another pressure point that can lead to fatigue, headaches, and a range of other symptoms.
The SEA SHIELD™ Face Shield has tapered these two corners of the foam to eliminate ALL pressure points in the corner giving you an extraordinary degree of comfort and sense of well-being.
4. At the corners, the SEA SHIELD™ is permanently glued together using a innovative technique our parent company uses to repair undersea diving suits. This way there are no bolts and nuts, screws, clips, rivets or other protrusions that can fail.
5. The SEA SHIELD™ uses a specific 1" braided flat, elastic head band because of its easy stretch and long memory. Our competitors use woven or knit elastic which do not work as well for this application. Most of our competitors use 1⁄2”, 3⁄4” and even 1⁄4” wide head bands, these fail to deliver the stability and comfort of 1” elastic.
We think that’s wrong, just to save a few pennies! We want every one of our clients to have the BEST face shield they can, so we never cut corners with any of the materials we use.
6. The .020” thick visor lens used on the SEA SHIELD™ is manufactured with OPTIX® quality PETG CLEAR sheeting and each visor is cut in our own factory with highly specialized blades and then inspected before going into our manufacturing pipeline.
Each visor is coated with TWO peel-away protective coatings that are only removed by the final client when they are ready to use their SEA SHIELDTM. This is why clients rave about its clarity and visual acuity.
CARE and LONGEVITY
Your SEA SHIELD™ can be cleaned and re-used two ways.
1. Spray 70% rubbing alcohol from a spray bottle onto both sides of the lens and wipe dry with a clean microfiber cloth. Now liberally spray the foam assembly and the head band and then hang to dry. Your SEA SHIELD™ is ready to use again.
2. Wash your SEA SHIELD™ using the following steps.
i. Clean sink first with bleach & then thoroughly rinse it.IN ALL CASES, do NOT use, if the efficacy of the SEA SHIELD™ has been compromised. Look for:
-
Cracked or damaged visor material.
-
Foam is damaged, pieces missing, or foam is degrading.
-
Head band elastic has been pulled loose or is coming loose.
-
If something just doesn’t look or feel right.
If damaged in any way, discard and use a new SEA SHIELD™.
