The NANOOK Hoods are made with:

1. PRE-Stretched neoprene, this is a first, this pre-stretching gives your hood that "lived in" feeling. It can naturally form to you, not fight you, FRIEND VS. FOE! The difference is immediate and a revelation! It feels like you have been diving it for years.

2. Abrasion-resistant DINA-HIDE™ that covers a 6 mm or 8 mm high quality compressed neoprene with a .5 mm layer of heat reflecting Titanium Foil™ on the inside.  You would truly have to try to wear out the NOOTKA's.

3. Each seam is glued with 3 layers of premium wetsuit glue and then another 3 layers of premium wetsuit glue are laid down on top of those and then a 1” wide straight cut 1.5 mm 3 ply strip of nylon/neoprene/nylon is has 3 layers of premium wetsuit glue applied to it and it is glued to those 3 layers for a fortress like barrier. But, there’s more! We turn the hood inside out and blind stitch and bar tack the all of the seams to anchor them for a final throwdown to the cold.  WHAT!

4. Two small aero holes are burned into the peak of your hood and then covered with a heat applied gusset. These aero holes allow air to leave your hood but do not allow it to leak in. The size of these aero holes have been carefully researched to work as designed.

Beeswax contains natural oils that are superior lubricants and make opening and closing your drysuit zipper easy and it protects the zipper in ways other lubricants simply can't.  Beeswax is made up of three main components.  The first one is palmitate, an ester of palmitic acid, which is a common fatty acid, basically an oil which is a great lubricant.  The second one is palmitoleate, another ester of palmitoleic acid which is again, another fatty acid much related to the first one, again a naturally occuring oil.  The third component is oleate esters, which are esters (salts) of oleic acid, which is again, a fatty acid.  A good example of oleic acid is olive oil.  All of these components help to lubricate and protect your zipper.

You have several choices for waxing your Brass or other outdoor gear zipper; paraffin - a petroleum based wax, a synthetic wax or beeswax.  Paraffin is brittle & hard, especially in the cold.   It flakes & loses much of its lubrication properties when temperatures drop.  Synthetic waxes are much softer & pick up sand & other debris; this can threaten the integrity of the zipper.

IMPORTANT: It is rare for us to recommend a woman's cut. Unless the bust and hips of the woman buying the women's cut drysuit match the bust and hips built into the drysuit her NEW drysuit could be very uncomfortable.  With today's fabrics, and the stretch found in the neoprene that SEASOFT uses, we have found that MOST women are more comfortable in a Men's Drysuit Pattern because the hips and chest allow for freedom of movement in these areas.
