$0.00USER’S GUIDE FOR SEASOFT’S ARC TYPE MASKS
All SEASOFT masks are designed with Ultra Clear Crystal glass lenses, this glass is also known as High Grade Glass (HGG). These lenses allow light transmission of 98-99% compared to 84-86% light transmission with the ordinary float glass found in the vast majority of dive mask lenses. This 13-14 % improvement in light transmission translates to even greater improvements in visual acuity including color rendition, contrast and sharpness.
This is an essential step forward for photographers and night, cave, and wreck divers. What makes these special lenses so effective is that they have been spray coated with a series of special metallic oxide layers designed to reduce the occurrence of glare and flare. These are called ARC, which is an acronym for Anti-Reflective Coatings, found on high quality binoculars, telescopes, and riflescopes.
Divers must take care to protect these ARC coatings from damage during cleaning and use.
WARNING!!! During manufacturing and assembly certain molding and post-molding residues may have accumulated on the silicone skirt, lenses and strap. Some of these residues will migrate to the glass lenses (inside & outside surfaces). Lenses with these residues on them will attract fog. Therefore, ALL mask surfaces must be treated to remove these residues so that they will no longer migrate to the lenses. Therefore, please carefully follow these steps to properly and safely clean your mask and its lenses BEFORE YOU DIVE OR USE YOUR MASK THE FIRST TIME!!
Damage to your ARC lens coatings caused by improper cleaning will void your warranty. Never use harsh abrasive soaps, cleansers, so called “Mask Cleaners”, soft scrub, tooth paste, etc. Many modern masks have special lens coatings that will be damaged by using cleaning products that were designed for old style masks. SEASOFT’s ARC lens masks are at the cutting edge of modern mask technology and must be treated as such.
NEW MASK TREATMENT:
1. Using one cup of warm water and 1-tablespoon full of DAWN™ dish detergent agitate the two together to create a sudsy emulsion.
2. Spread a liberal amount of this emulsion all over the lenses (inside & out) and the entire mask skirt and strap. Concentrate on thorough cleaning of mask skirt and strap, rubbing gently with finger tips.
3. Using clean finger tips only, very gently spread soapy emulsion over both sides of glass lenses. Avoid rubbing, scraping, or abrading.
4. Allow emulsion to stay on all mask parts for 3-5 minutes then rinse thoroughly under warm running water.
5. Repeat steps 1. Through 4. again. On some masks three treatments may be required.
USED MASK TREATMENT:
After mask has been in use and fogging begins to appear again proceed as follows:
1. The accumulation of finger prints, suntan lotions, bilge water engine oil & fuel residues, and human perspiration will accumulate as a hydrocarbon film on your mask’s lenses. It needs to be gently removed.
2. Proceed as in Step No. 1 above under New Mask Treatment.
3. Alternatively, you may use your SEASOFT SeaVue™ anti-fog spray to eliminate these fog-inducing contaminants. Saturate by spraying both sides of lenses and silicone mask skirt and strap. Allow to soak for 3-5 minutes. Then gently touch with clean fingertips all parts of lenses, skirt, and strap. Whenever touching lenses use clean fingertips and lots of SeaVue™ spray to prevent damage. Then rinse under warm running water.
Important Note 1: On a rare occasion, the residues put down by the Anti-reflective Coatings (especially near the end of the spray cycle) can leave a higher amount than usual of these residues on the lens surface. Only in these cases should a small quantity of gel toothpaste be used on a wet lens to gently rub the surface of the lens to remove these residues. This is uncommon and is rarely needed. You will find that it removes the residue left from the application of the ARC coatings and allows your SeaVue™ to work perfectly.
Important Note 2: Thoroughly soak and rinse mask after each use. Then dry and store in its protective padded mask bag. Do not allow salt water and high mineral fresh water to dry in your mask. The residual salt and mineral crystals are extremely hard and abrasive and could scratch your masks ARC coatings.
SEASOFT SeaVue™ Anti-fog Spray
SEASOFT’s SeaVue™ Anti-Fog Spray is the only anti-fog engineered to work with ARC lenses. At this time, it is the only anti-fog spray we recommend for use with your SEASOFT mask. It has been designed to not only act as an anti-fog but as an anti-bacterial, but as a cleaning agent as well.
